Start with the process
The right setup begins with what you need to join or cut, where the work happens and the finish you expect. Use these focused collections to narrow the field, then confirm input power, output range, duty cycle, material capacity and included equipment on the product page.

Start with process, power and material
First identify the materials and typical thicknesses you work with. TIG offers precise heat control and a clean finish; MIG is productive and approachable for repeat shop work; stick is portable and tolerant of outdoor conditions. A multiprocess machine can add flexibility, but the exact processes, starting method and aluminum capability vary by model.
Next, confirm the voltage and circuit available where the machine will run. Compare the documented output range and duty cycle at the output you expect to use, not just the maximum amperage. For plasma cutting, use the manufacturer’s rated clean-cut capacity as the normal-working benchmark rather than the larger severance figure.
Plan the complete setup. Allow for the torch or gun, work lead, shielding gas or compressed air, regulator, consumables, ventilation and suitable personal protective equipment. Product specifications determine what is included and what must be purchased separately.
