The Brown & Sharpe TESA Digital Micromaster outside micrometer has a V-anvil and a single-value LCD readout that displays in inch and metric units with resolution to 0.00005” (0.001mm) for outside diameter (OD) measurement, for direct outside diameter (OD) measurement of flute taps, milling cutters, and reamers, or out-of-roundness from centerless grinding or other machining operations. The anvil aperture is either 60 degrees (for three-fluted taps) or 108 degrees (for five-fluted taps), depending on the model. It also has Statistical Process Control (SPC) data output to transmit results to a computer or external device. The output jack transmits SPC results to a computer through an interface cable (sold separately).
The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurement at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. An automatic off function helps preserve battery life when the unit is not in use. The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 54 (IP54) rating, which means that components are resistant to debris and to splashing water from any direction up to a volume of 10 liters per minute. The spindle and anvil are tungsten carbide-tipped for wear resistance. The micrometer’s knurled friction drive thimble mechanism helps provide uniform pressure during adjustment for precise, repeatable measurement. A spindle lock helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single CR2032 lithium cell battery, and comes with a plastic case for storage.
